Throughout the eve the children squeal
Ignoring this, thier evening meal
For upon the setting sun
The children will set off as one
And holler 'Trick or Treat!'
Not so, it seems, for Fredrick Bumm
For, like his name, he fears all fun
And when the doorbell peals aloud
Beckoning mother to face the croud
Who hollers 'trick or treat'...
Fredrick Bumm just sits and pouts
And mumbles of the nasty louts
Parading out on Goosequill lane
Puting decency to shame!
As they holler 'Trick or Treat!'
Well...
Coming trapsing to the door
'Twas the one that Fred abhored
Garnered up in reams of lace
With jewels and sparkles on her face...
She chorused 'Trick of Treat!'
Fred peered out and gawked a bit
And looked to throw a nasty fit
But mum came in and saved the day
And gave some candy to the Fey...
Who smiled at Fred and Curtsied.
Fredrick Bumm was taken aback
Expecting for a sneak attack
Not this, a little happy girl
Complete with costume and a pail
Hearalding 'Trick or Treat!'
No, no... this was just not right!
Where was the ghoulish, nasty fright?
That was implied so carefully
By the children's reverie
And calling 'trick or treat'...
Then, finally, Fred gave in
And crossed his face a brimming grin
Comlete with dimples on his cheeks
And lifted all the pain of weeks
Dreading 'Trick or Treat'
Into the bucket, Fredrick dove
And threw the candy to the droves
Of children marauding on the streets
Sacks at ready for the sweets
That came from 'Trick or Treat'
Forever changed is Fredrick Bumm
Who on that night, was ne'er fun
And may a lesson, too be learned
That children can in gladness earn
In calling 'Trick or Treat'
So when you go out with a frown
Dreading Halloween in your town
Just think of the story of Frederick Bumm
Who, if I am correct, now hates Christmas.
